The magic cups provide hours of entertainment!I have decided that Carter is talking. I just have not been listening very well. I think he is saying thank you, kitty, and banana. You just have to listen closely and want to hear it!
Saturday we went to a local water park with the Jones gang. Carter isn't too fond of the cool temperature of pool water but really seems to enjoy slashing around once he gets used to the temperature. Mark said Carter even started leaping off the steps of the pool into his arms at our neighbor's pool this week.
CW has started holding one of his cups under the faucet in the tub. Once the cup is full, he takes a big swig. Usually resulting in lots of coughing because the water goes down the wrong pipe. At least he is trying to drink from a real cup and getting some hydration at the same time.
Today at lunch, I gave him water to drink and he threw the cup across the table. He is a juice baby, and driving the dietitian in me nuts with all his juice intake. At least he is eating vegetables...for now!
Friday after work, we went out for ice cream. Carter was so excited about talking to everyone walking by that he only ate a few bites of ice cream. He fell asleep in the car on the way home and did not even wake up when I carried him to bed. I actually let him sleep in his clothes and didn't make him brush his teeth. Mostly because he has not had a bottle in five days and I didn't want to give him one to knock him out. (Bottles were the sure fire way to get him to go to bed at night for the last several months.)
Last night I dreamed that Carter started standing on his own. I really expected him to do it today, and he didn't let me down. He waited until he was in the bathtub to try it. The most dangerous of all places! Usually we do not let him stand up in the tub but since he was actually not holding onto something I couldn't squish his fun tonight. I figured he has to stand alone to walk so let him do it. Now he will probably start walking tomorrow while I am at work. (Emily has strict orders not to tell me anything like that though.)
Nite-nite from shaky, but standing CW! atd
