This weekend Carter learned to say tissue. When he gets a tissue he wipes his nose so gingerly wads up the tissue in a little ball and says all done. Too cute! I got Carter to say happy birthday several times today, of course he wouldn't say it when G-daddy and uncle Geary were on the phone though. Stinker!
One morning this week when I was dropping Carter off at school he wanted the chapstick I had in my hand. Once we got to his classroom he took the lid off, put the chapstick on his lips and replaced the lid. To make it even funnier he made sure he had the attention of both teachers when he did it. Ms. Myers and Gomes thought I had taught Carter to do that, but he had never even held chapstick until we got out of the car a few mintues before. Those are some awesome fine motor skills for a 17 month old.
In the true fashion of motherhood...this made me begin to worry that I would get the dreaded promotional letter from the director at school. For once all my worrying came to fruition. On Friday, Carter received his first official promotion! He is moving up to the Toddler classroom. As if it wasn't enough that I couldn't button his 12 months jeans this week and most of his 12 month pants now look like high-waters...now my little pumpkin is moving up to the potty training room at school!
Carter's current classroom is the first door in the hallway. Each promotion moves him one classroom down the hallway. I've always seen the long hallway at his school as very symbolic. A journey in his/our life. I kept those thoughts at bay as long as possible, but I alas another new journey begins.
I regret I have no pictures to post this week. Maybe I'll get a good shot later in the week and post it. Look out toddler-hood here we come! atd
