I've started letting Carter pick out his clothing. Thankfully, he didn't want to leave the house in the get-up he had on in the pictures above. I'm not quiet sure where the layering of clothing came from, or where he got his new obsessing with socks that have balls on them. He actually wore all of those clothes to bed.
It is a challenge to keep up you blog checkers up to date with all of Carter's new words and phrases. Here goes:
- One of my favorites is, "What 'ca doin' mommy?" He just blurted this out one day out of the blue. Mark and I cracked up laughing.
- Another one is "Hi Dad." He sounds like he is 15 when he says it in such a nonchalant kind of way. Doesn't bother to look up from his toys just says "Hi Dad" upon Marks arrive on the scene.
- Corn-stops is another funny one that has came about the past few weeks. Corn-stops are actually cornstalks, but funny just the same.
- Peat and Re-peat would be another good motto as Carter continues to 'repeat' everything he says 1 million times or until you repeat exactly what he is saying to you. We have finally determined we have Ms. Hammond to thank for this. That's okay we love her enough we will let that slide.
- Change diaper. Experts say that when a child tells you this they are clearly ready to use the big potty. Well I'd like to disagree with those experts because apparently they never met Carter Dodd. CW has gone "pee pee potty" a few times but mostly only for his FAVORITE teacher a school. I offer him candy and stickers without results...what gives?
- "I wanna see ..." Fill in the blank with the grandparent, friend, or animal of the day.
- Go watch TV dad. Mark was harassing Carter while Carter was eating a snack. Guess CW was tired of daddy eating his snack?
- "NO!" This one is being used often these days. (Little does CW know that mommy recently bought a copy of "Dare to Discipline.")
- Go room. Translated to I want to go to my room to sleep. I do not want to sleep with mommy & daddy in their big comfy bed. Between the two best people on the planet! I will have to say when Carter started requesting to sleep in his own room it was like a blow to my mommy ego. Why would he NOT want to sleep with us? I'm still not sure why he would rather go to his room, but I am enjoying having my pillow back!
- Play water. We have a nice outdoor fountain area in the middle of shops here in Hendersonville. Carter has only really played in the water 1 or 2 times. However, he says he wants to go play water every day on the way to school when we pass the entrance to the shopping center. He cannot see the fountains from the street put knows exactly which traffic light goes to the fountains. We went to eat over a mile down the street from the fountains this week. When we got out of the car he pointed the direction of the fountains and informed us he wanted to go play. We had taken several out of the ordinary turns to get to the bed store and the little guy still knew we were near the fountains. The story gets even funnier. Recently he has decided he doesn't want to play water when we get there. He would rather go into the bookstore and play at the train table inside. So today on our way to Wal-Mart'S' Carter tells us he was to go to the bookstore and play Thomas. Somehow he doesn't understand "don't eat off the floor" but knows exactly where the best places to play are in our city....I think someone is pulling the wool over mommy's eyes!
Carter has finally started wanting to help in the garden over the past few weeks. He still gets clings to my body like a leach anytime a dog starts barking, but at least he will actually go outside now. He loves to put the cucumbers in the basket, pick every green tomato on the vine, and most of all he likes to play in the water...image that? atd
