We took the first vacation ever with the boys on June 16th. It was entirely spontanious & unplanned. The day before I said, "Let's go to Holiday World." Mark mowed the grass & I did laundry on Saturday monring & we left that afternoon. We spent the first day riding rides & the second day playing in the water park. We all had a great time!
We saw "Famous Pat" several times while we were in the park. She was so sweet & excited to take a picture with us just before we headed home.
Mark turned AJ's seat around to hoping it would help him be content on the 3 hour trip. I'm not sure it made much of a difference. It didn't take AJ long to figure out I could turn around and look at him. THen he just expected me to keep talking to him and handing him food. Actually, he did pretty well till we got close to the end of the trip. Carter did a great job trying to distract AJ & keep him laughing.
Kiddy rides...Carter prefered roller costers, spinning things & flying objects.
One HOT baby, but he was happy to watch the action going on around him.
Quick nap before we hit the park for day two.
Fun in & out of the water.
This was the only time Carter was going at full speed...eating.
Wide awake & headed home.
AJ had two 30 minute naps all day and stayed awake for about an hour in the car.
Carter was zonkered out before baby boy!
Finally sleeping at last. Both boys stay asleep while we carried them to their beds when we got home.
I'd have to say it was a very fun & successful first family trip. It was the first time Carter remembered sleeping in a hotel room. He had lots of questions like a) why are there two beds, b) whose sleeping where, c) how many people will stay here tonight, d) what’s all those noises. It was very cute.
Carter rode some of the big water slides with Mark & I. When he got off one called Wildebeest he looked at Mark and said, "We should NOT have done that!" Then wanted to go ride the Zinga again. The Zinga scared Mark & I but CW LOVED it. It was a 78 FOOT high, funnel / pipe water slide where you did a few big ole drops & a loop-de-loo at the end. Another of Carter's favorites was the Raging Rapids & Frightful Falls. (Think Grizzle River Rampage & Flume Zoom.) It was fun to see him enjoy some of the same things I loved as a kid.
I figure we had better do these kind of things NOW before the fear of not being able to move the next day prevent Mark & I from participating. =-)
