May 2013 - iPhone Photos

There are so many times I forget to take my camera when we leave the house. Awesome phone / photo technology helps me capture the memories while we are on the go!

AJ's favorite diaper covers are Carter's undies.
Putting on Carter's hocks (aka socks) is another pre-bed time favorite.

Fun at the Tuner's. AJ LOVES Melmo (aka Elmo)!
I'm not sure who is responsible for his love of Elmo but AJ says Melmo about 7000 times a day!
Buttering up Uncle Geary with some cute-ness!
 Black Bean MESS!
We got BIG news in May. Carter was accepted to Merol Hyde Magnet school! This was totally a blessing from God. I put Mark in charge of getting the application for testing turned in on time. The week the application was due Mark has pneumonia. I was off from work and running errands with the kids in tow the day the application was due. For some strange reason I remembered the application was due & headed over to the school to turn it in. As stressed out as I was there was NO way I would have remembered the application was due. I felt pretty sure from that moment on that God had a hand in whether or not Carter would be accepted.

Carter took the achievement test in February. In mid-April we found out he passed the test. The lottery drawing was in late April. There were over 200 kids that took the entrance test. Only 65 passed the test. There were 17 open slots in kindergarten for the upcoming school year. Carter Wade's name was called number 11! I can't describe how excited I was.

As I'm writing this (in late July) I'm still very happy that God gave Carter this opportunity. So is our bank account. However, change is difficult. We don't have warm fuzzies about changing schools. Mostly because the administration has been very stand-offish to answer questions and information is doled on on their time frame. Sumner Academy was a very friendly opening environment, but then again they have to be good at customer service. I'm guessing public school employees are exactly trained in customer service.  The only way I was able to convince myself & Mark that changing schools was a good decision was the comfort of knowing we can always go back to Sumner Academy if we all dislike the new school.

Carter was NOT happy when we started talking about changing schools. Mostly because his friends Ben and Sophia won't be coming to the new school with him. Over the summer Carter has been more accepting of the idea of changing schools.

 End of Year party
AJ enjoyed the end of the year party too!
We took a quick trip to Lexington to see the Gray's over Memorial Day weekend. It was the first time I had been to visit them since Carter was about 18 months old.
AJ was not a good traveler! He took a cat nap on the way there. He woke up just as we arrived in Lexington & cried for the last 45 minutes of the trip. On the way home he slept for the first 45 minutes and screamed for the next hour. He also didn't sleep very well the night we slept there. Mark sleep in the recliner all night with him.

We had a blast even though AJ didn't travel well. We played mini golf, played outside, petted the horses, ate some chicken at Zaxby's & lots of other fun stuff!

AJ favorite word was "horses" for weeks after our visit. He still loves looking at horses.
Dunk it! Yes that is Emma and Elijah in the background. When did they get SOO tall?
