32# & 36.5"

The red and blue socks a such a wonderful addition to the ensemble.
Chowing down on Granny Turner's Birthday Cupcakes!

Serious Business!

I'm pretty sure someday Carter will be extra happy with the photo of him on the potty. It was just too cute not to post!
In the past 3 years Carter has gained 23# and grown 15". In the past week Carter seems to have mastered using the potty...for the most part. =-)
It has been a busy week celebrating Carter's birthday. Last weekend we celebrated in Kentucky. On Wednesday Carter had a birthday party at school. He requested green ice cream for his party at school so Carter and his friends had LIME sherbet and mini cupcakes.
Thursday was Carter's actual birthday. The plan was to go to Monkey Joe's with his cousins, Hope and Bryan. However, Mommy ended up going to the dentist instead to have a root canal while Carter had tons of fun at Monkey Joe's. Except for when he bonked his nose on Bryan. By the time mommy got home from the dentist his little nose was swollen and discolored. This lead to an adventure to the doctors office. Nothing seemed to be awry, just an unfortunate bonk! Given these events coupled with a rochepin injection on his first birthday and a 104 degree fever on his second birthday Mommy isn't really looking forward to Carter's next birthday.
I don't think Carter even noticed I wasn't at Monkey Joe's with him. I felt horrible for leaving him on his birthday so on Friday Carter and I went to "Touch a Truck" at the park. It was miserably hot. He didn't really want to climb on any of the rescue vehicles and didn't even complain when I told him I wanted to go home. At one point he was sitting on a swing with me and I began to pour some water over this head to cool him off. Carter started whaling and said, "You got my dress all wet!" I laughed until I cried. I know it isn't nice to laugh at your kid when he is all upset, but it was too funny. Carter asked me to carry him while we were walking 1/2 mile to the car because he "wasn't warm." I refrained from laughing this time, but I think he meant he wanted me to carry him because he was hot.
Since Thursday Carter has been asking is my birthday coming soon. I explain that his birthday was Thursday but his party to celebrate is on Sunday. I'm pretty sure he is quiet confused by this. We had planned the party for 1:30 at a local park, but it is HOT & HUMID so I decided to change the location to our house instead. I haven't told Carter this yet. I really hope he doesn't get upset.
Today we went to a birthday party for Emmalyn, one of Carter's friends. Carter didn't try to help her open her gifts, and SO excited for her to open his gift. I was very proud of him when we went to pick her out a present. He wanted to buy her a train and didn't understand why she would want something "girlie" instead. When we left the store I told him how proud I was of him for not getting upset that he didn't get a toy while we were there. He kind of stomped his foot and said, "But I really want to buy a train today mom." I could tell he was disappointed he didn't get anything in the store, but he was so very sweet about it. I wanted to go back and buy him something but I refrained...for once.
All of the pictures from our family photo shoot are on the Brooke's website now (http://brookekellyphotography.zenfolio.com/). You don't need a password, just look for the words "Carter Dodd." Tootles for now...gotta go finish up the home made ice cream! atd
